623 - E block - due Wednesday 14.06.11

for thursday, you need to make your cheat sheet for the final exam. having it completed before class on thursday is essential because it will allow you to do the third review (starting in class thursday) using nothing but the cheat sheet - creating a test like environment for you.

below is a link to a list of things that are important for you to understand, and would also be beneficial to have on your cheat sheet.

you may not put examples on your sheet - only formulas and notes.

FINISH PACKET. EVERYTHING. ALL OF IT. EVERY LAST BIT. NO BLANKS.

612 - A block - due Wednesday 14.06.04

in new "hours of daylight" packet:

1. complete hours of daylight list for each of your two cities.
2. on the back of each of those pages, complete the graphing, equation info and test points.

3. on the top of the next page please complete 1. for both cities - google the city to find the latitude (you only have 2 cities - not 3 - even though there are 3 spaces.

this is what you have to complete for BOTH cities.
page 1
page 2 - for 'e' - it should be divided by 12 (not 12π - the # in front is correct though).

depending on your city, your graph might not be so pretty - we will discuss the reason for this on wednesday.

Thursday, May 29, 2014

623 - C block - due Monday 14.06.03

finish the pages for your other 2 cities (you should have all 3 cities done by monday - look at my previous post if you are unclear on anything)... or EMAIL ME!

2. did p. 13 and 14 (given graph, find equation)
3. did p. 16 an 17 (word problem - ferris wheel)

homework (due monday):
p.18 and 22 (both ferris wheel problems)

**WITH NUMBER 22 - CROSS OUT A ZERO ON EACH OF THE BOTTOM NUMBERS - ex. change 100 to 10 and 200 to 20. it will make the graph much easier to read.

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

612 - A block - due Thursday 14.05.29

in big packet (612 A block FST Chapter 6 Graphing Sine and Cosine)

please complete p. 11 and 12 (4 graphs).

for each - graph 1 period with stretches only! (amp and per)
then, graph all the way to the right and left with stretches AND shifts

page 11 #3 solution posted here

****WHEN FINDING ADDITIONAL POINTS (following the pattern) - be sure to notice the relationships between:

R/L distance and the period (1/4)
UP/D distance and the amplitude (the same!)

finish geo chpt 5 review

623 - E block - due Wednesday 14.05.28

1. complete chapter 6 homework assignment. DUE WEDNESDAY!. 52.128 points!!

2. for the 3 city project... due wednesday is one city of the packet

a.. go to: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/sunrise.html - choose your city and click "see sunrise/sunset"

b.. record the "length of day - this day" value for the 21st of each month - screenshot

c.. use the max and min (changed to decimals) and your knowledge of cos and sin functions to create a sin and cos equation for the hours of daylight at various times during the year.

d.. test the equation by plugging in the given values and marking them on your graph.

BY THE WAY... I MADE A SMALL MISTAKE ON THE GRAPH AND SKIPPED 17:30 (you will notice on the one i posted below) - just change it - if you have over 18:30 of daylight for any city, you will just go a bit off the graph - not a big deal.

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

623 - E block - due Thursday 14.05.01

finish "623 - FST - Chapter 5.4/5.5 - MORE PRACTICE" ws
 the first problem is:

1. sin θ = -1/2
-the sine ratio is negative in quadrants 3 and 4.
-look at the 30-60-90 triangle - the 1/2 side is opposite 30 degrees, so the reference angle is 30 degrees.
-a reference angle of 30 degrees in quad 3 (30 past 180) is 210 degrees and in quad 4 (30 back from 360) is 330 degrees
- radians... denominators are 6
7π/6 and 11π/6
